Baseball & Art
When I was a young boy I was a huge baseball fanatic and a rabid Texas Rangers fan. But that wasn’t my only love. I also loved superhero comics, and art. The ability to express myself through my love for baseball & superheroes inspired me. When I was 9 years old I combined one of my two loves. Baseball, and art. I painted the Texas Rangers logo in acrylic paint on a 20 by 16 canvas and took it with my to the Rangers game with my mom and sister in hopes of getting some of the Rangers players to sign it.
We showed up early for batting practice and I raced through the gate and down towards the Rangers dugout to watch them take batting practice. My favorite Ranger Rafael Palmeiro had just stepped out of the cage finishing up his round as I yelled out to him…“ Rafael would you please sign my painting?”

He curiously walked over to me admiring my painting with a smile. As he approached closer he said, “you paint that kid?” I sure did Mr. Palmeiro would you please sign it for me I replied. “My pleasure little man.”
After he signed it he called some teammates nearby to come over to see my painting and sign it as well. I went home with 11 Ranger autographs that night. I was so excited with my painting I didn’t even know who won the game that night as I spent the entire game staring at my painting.
Ironically enough I ended up playing 13 years in the big leagues and beating my beloved Rangers in the 2010 World Series. I may be retired from baseball now, but I will never retire from painting.
My artistic style as mixed media, pop artsy, heroic, & inspiring.
